Cinema Lounge Debuts in Mid-West and Southeast

-- Regional Internet Film Fest to Showcase Local Film Works by Detroit, Cleveland and Atlanta filmmakers--

PHILADELPHIA --- Beginning January 4, MediaOne Road Runner customers in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Cleveland and Atlanta will be able to view films by award- winning filmmakers from their local areas on Cinema Lounge, a new broadband film festival created by Druid Media especially for MediaOne. MediaOne Road Runner is the high-speed Internet service of MediaOne.

Cinema Lounge focuses on filmmakers from each of MediaOne's broadband markets. It launched in New England and the Twin Cities on December 1, 1999; additional sites include Los Angeles, Richmond and Miami, which roll out on February 1. The sites offer a mixture of short films, digital videos, animations and made-for-the-Internet films, as well as notes about the films, biographies of the filmmakers and local film links.

"We have an impressive lineup of short films, experimental digital videos and music videos," said Nora Barry. Barry's company, Druid Media, is producing the festivals for MediaOne Road Runner. "MediaOne Road Runner's high-speed and multimedia capabilities make it possible for us to showcase these films on the Internet."

The filmmakers include Atlanta native Gregg Bishop, whose film, "Voodoo" won Best Short at the 23rd Annual Atlanta Film Festival, and is also being screened at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah 2000; William Brown, an experimental filmmaker from Atlanta whose work has been exhibited at festivals in Germany, Japan, and The Netherlands; and Cleveland-based Kasumi, an international recording artist and filmmaker who was nominated for a Japanese Academy Award for her work on the sound track of "Oginsama".

The festival lineup features:

o "22 Seconds in Spain", a hypnotic, experimental documentary about the running of the bulls in a Spanish town, by Atlanta filmmaker William Brown.

o "Chasin' Via Communication", a humorous riff on the vagaries of electronic communication by Detroit filmmaker Daniel Gillies.

o "The Bride Stripped Bare By Her Bachelors, Even...More", an experimental animation that reinterprets Duchamp's infamous work by the same name, by Detroit multimedia artist Dennis Summers.

o "Voodoo", a dark comedy about a little girl trying to get rid of her mother's date with a voodoo doll. By Atlanta native Gregg Bishop.

o "Bomb Inside My Head", an original black and white music video by Cleveland multimedia artists Greg Petusky and Johnny Wu.

o "Crush", a short story about a man gathering his courage to approach a woman, by Atlanta filmmaker Kevin Patrick.

o "Deception", the story of a woman trapped in one of the most horrific situations imaginable. Then again, maybe it's not that at all. By Atlanta filmmaker Steve Nichols Smith.

o "Synapse", A collection of experimental music videos by Cleveland musician and filmmaker Kasumi Minkin.
